Zombie apocalypse: Luka Rocco Magnotta arrested in Berlin
The 29-year-old Canadian porn actor accused accused of videotaping the murder of 33-year-old Lin Jun and mailing the victim's body parts to the country's political parties has been captured in Berlin. Canada's the Globe and Mail reports that Capt. Guido Busch of the Berlin police confirmed Luka Rocco Magnotta's arrest Monday (June 4).
"Police were called by a person from the internet cafe. Colleagues went to the cafe and arrested a person we are sure is Mr. Magnotta," Busch says. "He is in jail and will go to a judge tomorrow. Our goal is to bring him to Canada as quickly as possible."
Police say Lin, who reportedly dated Magnotta, was killed in Magnotta's one-room flat the evening of May 24 to 25. His killing and dismemberment was filmed and posted online with viewers wondering for days if the video was real.
The horrific crime was one in a series of incidences recently that led some folks to think a zombie apocalypse is underway. It all seemed to start on May 26 when Rudy Eugene was shot and killed by a Miami police officer after eating almost the entirety of a homeless man's face off. Then on Tuesday, Maryland college student Alexander Kinyua allegedly confessed to killing his roommate and eating his heart and brain.

Interpol issued an arrest warrant last week for Luka Rocco Magnotta, a 29-year-old Canadian, who faces first-degree murder charges over the videotaped death of Jun Lin, 33, a Chinese exchange student whose body parts were posted to political parties in the Canadian capital, Ottawa.
Police in Canada said last week Magnotta had probably left the country for France. However, detectives have since confirmed the suspect had taken refuge in Paris before boarding a bus to Berlin at the weekend.
Magnotta was spotted by a cafe owner in Berlin's Neukölln district on Monday, police said. "Today, at about 1.30pm, a witness recognised Mr Magnotta in an internet cafe," said Guido Busch, a spokesman for the city's police. "Seven officers went into the cafe and immediately overpowered Magnotta, who tried at first to give a false name. The officers didn't buy it."
German television quoted the owner of the cafe as saying Magnotta had spent an hour surfing the internet before officers entered and took him into custody.
Magnotta is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, Busch added.
French police say the suspect fled to France on 26 May and was hiding in a hotel in a Parisian suburb as late as last Friday. Detectives raided his hotel room where they found pornographic magazines, according to reports.
In a crime scene Montreal police say is the worst they have seen, Magnotta's flat contained a bloody mattress and pools of blood on the floor and in the refrigerator. Detectives said a janitor found a torso with no head or limbs in a suitcase in an alley behind the building.
Authorities believe a decomposing foot sent to the Conservative party headquarters on Tuesday and a hand found inside a package at a postal depot belong to the same person.
Magnotta has left a bizarre internet trail, portraying himself as an alleged kitten killer and bisexual porn star.

Luka Rocco Magnotta, 29, is the subject of a massive manhunt after a man's maggot-ridden torso was found in a locked suitcase by his Montreal apartment block.
The sickening 'snuff video' footage, called '1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick' and uploaded last week, shows a naked male tied to a bed frame being attacked with both an ice pick and a kitchen knife.
The Best Gore website says the film, which is unclear where or when it was filmed, then shows the victim being stabbed and having his throat slashed to the soundtrack of True Faith by New Order.
He is later decapitated, dismembered and sexually assaulted. It is believed he was already dead when the camera started rolling.
The man in the video, whose face is never revealed, then goes on to play with the corpse's body parts in a 'sexual manner'.
Doubt was initially cast on the veracity of the film but police have now confirmed 'it depicts the actual crime', the National Post reports.
Gay porn actor is named as suspect in body parts case

Montreal - An actor in low-budget gay porn films is the prime suspect after three severed body parts belonging to the same person were found in three different places in Canada, authorities said Wednesday.
Montreal police have named Luka Rocco Magnotta, 29, in the gruesome case, in which a severed human foot was sent to the headquarters of Canada’s ruling Conservative party and a blood-soaked package with a hand was stopped by police at a Canada Post terminal.
“He seemed like a nice guy,” Schorer told The Canadian Press.
Several residents in the building told the Montreal Gazette that police believe the torso belongs to an Asian man who also lived in the apartment building and is apparently missing.
A video claiming to show Magnotta stabbing a man several times on a bed was sent to the Montreal police, the Gazette reports.
Montreal police commander Ian Lafreniere told reporters Wednesday that Magnotta does not have a criminal record.
“The suspect and victim knew each other,” Lafreniere said. “It isn’t linked to organized crime.”
Details on Magnotta’s whereabouts and motives are hazy.
Police have not released the victim’s name. An autopsy will be performed to determine how the victim was killed and when the body was dismembered.
“Some police officers have never witnessed a crime such as this,” Lafreniere told The Associated Press.
The suspect has a murky past.
He has worked as a porn actor, an official close to the investigation told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because he was not given permission to discuss the grisly case.
Authorities told the AP that the suspect is also known by the names Eric Clinton Newman and Vladimir Romanov. He is 5-foot-8 with blue eyes and black hair, cops say.
Magnotta has also been accused online of killing kittens and posting videos of their deaths on the Internet, the Gazette reports.
The suspect has responded to those accusations on his website, www.Luka-Magnotta.net.

As previously mentioned, Magnotta has been obsessed with the Eiffel Tower and apparently headed to Paris from Montreal, via London. He was photographed coming through security in France. Three photos of a man standing in line at an airport security gate wearing a Mickey Mouse T-shirt appeared on Interpol's website Sunday, June 3, 2012, attached to a profile of Magnotta. But the photos appeared to have been taken down shortly after being posted, around 1 p.m. ET, according to CTV News.

French media also reported Sunday that personal belongings of Magnotta were found in a hotel in suburban Paris as well as air sickness bags and pornographic magazines.
Magnotta was a master of disguises, before his capture. In one situation, he was known to have dressed as a woman to throw off police. He also had a checkered past. Magnotta is said to have once dated Karla Homolka, a notorious Canadian sex killer who slaughtered schoolgirls.
